A vote of the membership of the Washoe County Employee`s Association was conducted asking if the members wanted to continue the negotiated wage concession that was set to sunset on June 30, 2011. The votes were collected and counted with a return of:

YES 372 votes
NO 194 votes

This continuation of the existing concessions is an interim agreement that will be in effect until a contract for the 2011-12 fiscal year is negotiated and passed by the membership. Since this is only an interim agreement, the vote of the non-supervisory group and the supervisory group was counted as one body to minimize any potential logistical issues, especially due to the small window of time to convey and implement the results of the vote. This process has been discussed with the Association`s attorney.

We also have representation on all of the major committees and sub-committes including the all-important Job Classification Committee. These committees make major decision not only in areas that directly affect our members' working conditions, but quality of life issues as well.

Members receive and will continue to receive all of these benefits for $5.00 per pay period. This is the lowest Association dues assessment in the state.
